SEA DRIFT

2018-2024

My current body of work “Sea Drift” makes extensive use of Arbutus bark to create textural paintings which evoke feelings of calm and reflection. I draw inspiration from the seascapes which surround the Gulf islands. The pearlescent qualities of oyster shells on the beach to the drifts of seaweed and wood that wash up against the shore, and the reflections of the evening skies amongst the frothy waves which gently lap the beach.

The work is created through the process of layering arbutus bark and acrylic on wood panel and composed to feel natural, dream like and contemplative.

FALL

2014

This body of work was deeply personal and makes use of colour to look inward. Drawing from themes of sexuality and belonging colours are layered like emotions creating windows of light and exuberance peering through the darkness.

WINTER'S END

2012

Inspired by a perilous drive in a blizzard. Capturing the beauty and abstraction of the landscape in fleeting moments.
